That is blatantly NOT the case with Elmedia Video Player. IMHO it is IRRESPONSIBLE for any software program to include the Adobe Flash plugin without keeping it immediately up-to-date. Adobe itself always recommends that Flash users remain up-to-date with the latest version of their Flash plugin. This is one reason Adobe is discontinuing Flash as of January 1, 2020. There's no word on whether the RAV4 Hybrid GR Sport - or any GR Sport models for that matter - might come to the U.S. To be fair the PHEV, known as the RAV4 Prime in the U.S., already has 306 horsepower, so perhaps this is a way to finally give it the looks to match its might. But that's more than can be said for many other faux performance packages from other manufacturers like BMW's M Sport and Mercedes' AMG-Line. Toyota says the suspension has been tuned with slightly stiffer shocks and springs for improved handling. Silver contrast stitching and gunmetal trim lend the cockpit a sporting feel, while the animal-free power memory seats employ a suede insert design common on sports models. Inside, GR logos can be found on the headrests, floormats, and steering wheel. Gloss black-finished 19-inch wheels are said to be Toyota's first made from a new line-cutting process that gives each spoke a thin, machined pinstripe contouring its spokes. A honeycomb pattern in the grille and fog light housings, as well as a chin spoiler - black to denote the standard hybrid and gunmetal on the PHEV - add to the visual punch. Shell out for it and you'll get wheel arch cladding, side trim, and trunk garnish in gloss black instead of flat. Toyota is offering the GR Sport package on both hybrid-electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the RAV4. It gets some styling and suspension tweaks and the imprimatur of the GR badge to spice up the capable but commonplace mid-size crossover. The latest example of this is Europe's 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid GR Sport. GR is being positioned as the pinnacle of Toyota performance, and with siblings like the GR86 and GR Supra, who could argue? Many mainstream brands don't even offer one choice for enthusiasts, much less three.Įlsewhere in the world, however, the relatively young GR label is already being pimped out to makeover otherwise pedestrian cars. Toyota even released a series of exciting ads full of tire smoke and classic Aichi sports cars welcoming it into the Gazoo family. With the Toyota GR Corolla arriving at showrooms as you read this, the Gazoo Racing brand is picking up a lot of steam. 12/22/2023 0 Comments Using ispeech chrome with word online![]() Our final text to speech extension is Announcify. Teachers, however, can get the premium version for free by filling out a simple form on the company’s website here: ![]() In addition to the free version of Read & Write, there is also a paid premium version that offers many tools beyond text to speech. Voices include male and female, and a wide range of nationalities. Click the gear icon on the right side of the toolbar to open the settings and select the voice and speed you want. In this extension you also have the option to change voices. Additionally it highlights each word as it reads it, making it easier for students to follow along. Read & Write works inside a Google Doc or on a web page, reading just what you have highlighted. Simply select your text and click the play button to have it read aloud. The text to speech button is the one with the triangular play icon. You will now get a toolbar with a wide range of buttons. Either way just click the “RW” icon to open Read & Write. If you are in a Google Doc, there will be an “RW” icon at the top of the Doc. If you are on a web page there will be an “RW” icon inside your URL bar on the far right. With Read & Write installed, you will access it in two different ways depending on whether you are on a web page or in a Google Doc. However, for this blog post we will just focus on that feature (and take a closer look at this extension in its own post in the future). Read & Write for Google is the Swiss army knife of extensions with a wide range of tools beyond just text to speech. This can be helpful for students as well as adults, as I know I have listened to many web-based articles while folding laundry. Need to read an article, but you also need to do chores, exercise, or just relax? Use a text to speech tool to read to you while you multitask. For students learning a world language they can choose a text in the language they are studying, then pick a voice in that language to read the text, allowing them to hear the proper pronunciation.įinally, in addition to all the educational reasons listed above, using a text to speech tool can simply save time. Many text to speech tools don’t just work for the English language, but also have multiple voices you can select in many languages, dialects, and genders. In fact, I used text to speech on this blog post for my own editing. This allows them to find incorrect words (“you” instead of “your”), missing punctuation, double words (the dreaded “the the”), sentences that do not flow, and ideas that need more details. Before a student submits their work to their teacher they should use one of the text to speech tools to hear what they actually wrote, not what they think they wrote. When students write reports, essays, or stories, one of the best ways for them to edit their works is to hear it read back aloud to them. It can also be used to read the words the students wrote themselves. Text to speech is not just to help students read unfamiliar text. Students who learn well auditorily will benefit from this extra presentation of the content while they read along. In addition to the student reading the words visually, the student can also hear the words read aloud. This can help the student listen at a pace that is appropriate for their comprehension.Įven if a student is able to read proficiently, using text to speech can provide additional support by tapping into a second learning modality. Most text to speech tools also allow the user to slow down or speed up the speaking rate. This can be used for an article on a website, or the content in an online course, or the instructions you put at the top of a Google Docs assignment. One of the most common uses for text to speech is to help students who have difficulty reading. 12/22/2023 0 Comments Sanrio plushYou may print or download a reasonable number of copies of any graphic or textual Materials owned by Sanrio available for downloading on the Site. From the release of the Pentagon Papers in 1971 exposing their nation’s actions in Vietnam, to Watergate sinking President Richard Nixon into scandal, Americans had to reckon with the revelation both major political parties of the period had been engaged in massive coverups. In the 1970s, the American people faced a crisis of faith in their institutions. While scary, the episodes are not dangerous as long as the individual finds a safe place in which to collapse. Episodes last a few minutes at most and resolve almost instantly on their own. The loss of muscle tone during cataplexy resembles paralysis of muscle activity that naturally occurs during REM sleep. But even during the most severe episodes, people remain fully conscious, a characteristic that distinguishes cataplexy from fainting or seizure disorders. The most severe attacks result in a total body collapse during which individuals are unable to move, speak, or keep their eyes open. Attacks may be mild and involve only a momentary sense of minor weakness in a limited number of muscles, such as a slight drooping of the eyelids. In about 10 percent of cases of narcolepsy, cataplexy is the first symptom to appear and can be misdiagnosed as a seizure disorder. Some people may only have one or two attacks in a lifetime, while others may experience many attacks a day. The symptoms of cataplexy may appear weeks or even years after the onset of EDS. It is often triggered by sudden, strong emotions such as laughter, fear, anger, stress, or excitement. This sudden loss of muscle tone while a person is awake leads to weakness and a loss of voluntary muscle control. In between sleep attacks, individuals have normal levels of alertness, particularly if doing activities that keep their attention. However, sleepiness in narcolepsy is more like a “sleep attack”, where an overwhelming sense of sleepiness comes on quickly. EDS is characterized by persistent sleepiness, regardless of how much sleep an individual gets at night. All individuals with narcolepsy have EDS, and it is often the most obvious symptom. Though all have excessive daytime sleepiness, only 10 to 25 percent of affected individuals will experience all of the other symptoms during the course of their illness. The most typical symptoms are excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and hallucinations. Symptoms can partially improve over time, but they will never disappear completely. Narcolepsy is a lifelong problem, but it does not usually worsen as the person ages. ![]() Since people with narcolepsy are often misdiagnosed with other conditions, such as psychiatric disorders or emotional problems, it can take years for someone to get the proper diagnosis. However, since this condition often goes undiagnosed, the number may be higher. It is estimated that anywhere from 135,000 to 200,000 people in the United States have narcolepsy. Symptoms often start in childhood, adolescence, or young adulthood (ages 7 to 25), but can occur at any time in life. Narcolepsy affects both males and females equally. If left undiagnosed or untreated, narcolepsy can interfere with psychological, social, and cognitive function and development and can inhibit academic, work, and social activities. ![]() This helps explain some symptoms of narcolepsy. Also, the muscle weakness or dream activity of REM sleep can occur during wakefulness or be absent during sleep. People with narcolepsy frequently enter REM sleep rapidly, within 15 minutes of falling asleep. Dreams occur during REM sleep, and the brain keeps muscles limp during this sleep stage, which prevents people from acting out their dreams. In a normal sleep cycle, a person enters rapid eye movement (REM) sleep after about 60 to 90 minutes. Other symptoms may include sudden muscle weakness while awake that makes a person go limp or unable to move (cataplexy), vivid dream-like images or hallucinations, and total paralysis just before falling asleep or just after waking up (sleep paralysis). People may unwillingly fall asleep even if they are in the middle of an activity like driving, eating, or talking. Narcolepsy can greatly affect daily activities. Many individuals with narcolepsy also experience uneven and interrupted sleep that can involve waking up frequently during the night. People with narcolepsy may feel rested after waking, but then feel very sleepy throughout much of the day. Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that affects the brain’s ability to control sleep-wake cycles. What is the state of the science involving narcolepsy? What behavioral strategies help people cope with symptoms? |
